Essential Duties & Responsibilities for 2nd Shift Mechanic-Electric Motors :
• Test electro-mechanical equipment to identify known or suspected problems using various methods (AC or DC).
• Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment, noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
• Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods, including parts washers/steamers, caustic tanks, and glass bead blasters.
• Measure or note proper replacement parts and correctly requisition needed items from the storekeeper as approved by the supervisor.
• Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, including bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachometers, fans, and end shields.
• Retest reassembled electro-mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and promptly.
• Operate specialized repair and testing equipment and other equipment as needed.
• Lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects to perform work duties.
• Assist other mechanics or shop personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by the supervisor or shop manager.
• Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection, steel-toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.).
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Report all injuries, near misses, and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, and Requirements for 2nd Shift Mechanic-Electric Motors :
• High school diploma or GED; one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.
• Certification from a technical school is helpful.
• Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; participate in meetings.
• Ability to write clearly and informatively; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide two-digit numbers and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Must be able to read a measuring tape.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Mechanical aptitude is required.
• Prior experience working as a mechanic is desired.
